That’s good news. And despite media reports to the contrary, do not expect a shooting-rampage-bloodbath-frenzy to begin today. Statistics bear out the idea that those who are concerned about their safety enough to legally carry a concealed firearm are not the type of people who are casual about firearm safety, or violence.
We’re carrying to protect ourselves and our families. That’s all.
Under the proposed change, the ninth-graders would take a course called global studies, focusing in part on issues such as the environment. The 10th grade still would study civics and economics, but 11th-graders would take U.S. history only from 1877 onward.
It’s crap like this why I spend way too much money each year making sure my kids are not in a government school. There are a lot of parents out there who will say, “Well, that wouldn’t happen in *my* kid’s public school.”
Really?
Are you willing to bet your future on it? Are you willing to bet your kid’s future on it?
I’m not.
Of course, I guess once the government edu-ma-cates a new crop of people, who won’t understand the concepts behind the American revolution (Liberty!! Freedom!!), who won’t understand that the Second Amendment is not about hunting, and that the First Amendment applies to everyone equally, that the job of ruling a proletarian populace becomes much, mcuh simpler. And the chances of a revolution are almost nil.
I have a gun safe. It was a requirement, to me, once my boys started getting older. Sure, I wanted something to protect my guns from being stolen or from fire, but keeping them away from the guys was a much bigger concern to me. My only complaint about it is – and I think that this is universal to all gun owners – is that it’s now too small. 🙂
However, if you’re looking for a safe, check out this video from the SHOT show (courtesy AccurateShooter.com)
A round gun safe is truly unique. Lots of great features here. Difficult to lay flat for pry bar attacks, hardened steel and ball bearings in some critical drill-points, and the integrated lazy-susan for storage. For those of you who’d store it in a closet or basement, easily disguisable inside a hot-water heater blanket.
I’m not a Pendleton customer, so I cannot speak to their quality. But if you’re in the market for a safe, I’d give this one a glance.
You know, living in Alabama, I’ve been around guns most of my life. I’ve always respected them, and I’ve always known that they are not toys. This kind of story infuriates me, because some people are so stupid they shouldn’t be allowed to even breed, much less own a firearm. That was my first thought.
My second thought? I wonder what caliber that gun was.
