Let me be blunt. For a very long time, I did not like Glenn Beck. But after 2001, I started listening sporadically. And his tone and demeanor seemed to change. While I still wouldn’t say I’m 100% in line with his beliefs, I *am* 100% behind this speech he delivered at the NRA National meeting in Charlotte, NC:
So a few weeks ago I picked up a pair of Crimson Trace lasergrips for my Ruger LCP. The box claimed that it was extremely easy to install, so I thought I’d record it for posterity. If you’ve ever wondered what is involved with its installation, this video is for you.
So last year I picked up Larry Correia’s Monster Hunter International, after the rest of the blogosphere had read it. I’d heard good reviews, but honestly the whole premise of guys fighting things that go bump in the night didn’t really appeal to me. But I bought it anyways, thinking that at the very least, I should support a fellow gunnie who’s trying to make a go as an author.
I was blown away by MHI.
I completely devoured it. MHI was so well written, and so fast paced that I could not put it down. Larry did such an excellent job blending the real world and the supernatural that I really began to believe that wraiths could be lurking around every corner.
Baen has placed the first 2 chapters of the sequel, Monster Hunter Vendetta, online. I read through them yesterday, and they have me stoked for what’s to come.
April 19th, 1775: “Don’t Tread On Me” stopped being just a slogan, at the old North Bridge.
By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.
The foe long since in silence slept;
Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;
And Time the ruined bridge has swept
Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.
On this green bank, by this soft stream,
We set to-day a votive stone;
That memory may their deed redeem,
When, like our sires, our sons are gone.
Spirit, that made those heroes dare,
To die, and leave their children free,
Bid Time and Nature gently spare
The shaft we raise to them and thee.
So 2 weasel Congressmen are working to make sure that any and all firearms that take trade hands go through a FFL holder. What’s next – all car sales must go through a dealership? More people die in auto wrecks each year, you know, than from firearm injuries.
Why stop there? Think about all the evil items that are out on eBay or the like… baseball bats, knives, bricks… Are we becoming such a nanny state that one day I’ll have to go through a background check just to buy a piece of pipe from Lowe’s?
According to the Associated Press, yesterday Alabama joined the list of states involved in the Montana gun control suit which was filed in January 2010. This lawsuit basically sets the mandate that the state, not the federal government, should decide which rules, if any, would control the sale and purchase of guns and paraphernalia made in Montana.
From the comments on the al.com story:
Wow, last time I checked only interstate commerce can be federally controlled. Sounds like another buildup to states rights issues again.
I was reading the story about a Glock Failure that SayUncle blogged about, order and a question came to mind.
Most catastrophic failures are, cost from what I’ve read about, caused by an ammo issue. Glock recently introduced the .45GAP cartridge. Is it possible to chamber a .45ACP into a .45GAP? Or vice versa?
I bought a DPMS lower on AuctionArms.com last week, and picked it up from a local FFL today. I’m planning on documenting the build process online. I’ve never built one before, and will be picking up the pieces I need over the next few weeks.
Should be interesting, educational and, above all, fun!!
I’d forgotten just how funny this clip was, until someone shared it with me again.
Well, our illustrious elected body has failed to pass the “Worker Protection” bill in another congressional session. This bill, which would have prevented employers (including MINE!!) from outlawing firearms in locked vehicles in parking lots, was tabled in committee. It never even came out for a vote.
But our Congress did see fit to pass a bill which would ensure that the amount of public hunting land in Alabama would stay constant. When will people realize that the 2nd amendment is not about the right to hunt??
